We would be happy to show you the rental property. The history of the house "Schwanen"The history of the Swan stretches over several hundred years. The former inn Schwanen was founded in 1679.When Vaud was conquered by Bern in 1536, the transit traffic between the West and Bern gained significant importance. Wine was one of the most important transport goods. This was loaded onto large ships in Yverdon, rowed over Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Murten to Murten, and from there transported by horse-drawn carriages to Gümmenen. Since there were always problems with adulterated wine (because the barrels were tapped on the way and refilled with water), the rest stops were fixed and monitored. Since 1613, there has been such a rest stop in Allenlüften, where the authorities had the still existing building built in 1679, the former Gasthof Schwanen. A so-called schaffner, usually a Bernese, controlled the through traffic, the intermediate storage of wine barrels, their nightly surveillance, and the handling for onward transport. In 1767, the schaffner also received the right to host and serve. The schaffnerei was abolished with the invasion of the French troops in 1798, but remained as an inn, which was continued as a private economy "Zum Schwanen" by the same family until 2014 after the auction in 1801.
