A look into history

The origins of the property date back to the 14th century. In documents from 1339, the property is mentioned for the first time as Sintzhof - named after its then owner Cuntzmann Sintz. In 1781, the successful iron merchant Hieronymus Staehelin acquired the court and gave the Vorderer Rosshof its present, representative face through construction measures. Since Staehelin obtained his ore from the Vosges, he chose the location strategically perfectly: close to the Spalentor for goods traffic and yet in the midst of the lively city center.
