The entire Goms region is very well connected by public transport (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn). Ulrichen is also the gateway to Ticino with the Nufenen Pass. The name Ulrichen comes from an Alemannic clan leader. With the Nufenen and Gries Pass, Ulrichen is the gateway to the south. Perhaps the local pasta production was also inspired by this?
