The former mountain farming village is located at 1,672 m above sea level, at the end of the Saas Valley. Since the tourist boom of the internationally known tourist region Saas-Fee/Saastal, all municipalities in the Saas Valley have grown strongly. General information about Saas-Almagell
Saas-Almagell consists of several hamlets: the cattle still spend the summer on the alps of the region. The most striking mountain above Saas-Almagell is the Almagellerhorn. Mountain farming has lost importance in recent decades, and today tourism is the most important economic sector in the Saas Valley. Saas-Almagell also benefits from the electricity industry, as the highest elevated earth dam in Europe, the Mattmark, is located at the end of the Saas Valley.
