With an impressive altitude difference of over 3,500 meters, Naters is the municipality with the largest altitude range in Switzerland. The municipal area extends from the valley floor at 660 m above sea level over the Natischerberg to the village of Blatten (1,327 m above sea level), further up to the Belalp at 2,094 m above sea level – up to the majestic Aletschhorn, which touches the sky at 4,195 meters.

Since 2013, the two villages of Birgisch and Mund have also belonged to the municipality of Naters.
