The "Haus in Alto" is a approximately 70-year-old house that was the subject of modernization work about 30 years ago to reduce energy consumption: the south side of the roof was completely covered with a photovoltaic system. The house also has a "passive solar system" on the south facade, which is equipped with panels that absorb the heat of the sun and transfer it to the interior of the house. In the summer, when it's hot and heating is not needed, the panels are shaded with shutters on the facade. The living room has a large pigna that heats the entire 1st floor. On the 2nd floor, on the back of the house, a winter garden was created, which is heated by the sun; the heat that develops in the winter garden then spreads throughout the floor. Electric heaters are only turned on when necessary. The ecological concept of the building allows to maximize the use of solar energy and limit pollutant emissions.
