A housing cooperative is a non-profit organization that builds or manages housing for its members. The inhabitants are shareholders: they buy shares but remain tenants (they are not owners of their apartment). The rents are calculated based on the actual costs, so often lower than on the market. The members participate in the decisions and management of the cooperative (assemblies, votes). The goal is to guarantee quality, stable, and affordable housing with a community and solidarity spirit. The project in a few words: This housing cooperative project is located in the village of Burtigny, near the main street, and benefits from an unobstructed view of the fields and the landscape of Lake Geneva. It plans to build about a dozen apartments, spread over two levels + attic. The future inhabitants will have the opportunity to participate from the first stages in the design of their apartment, in order to adapt it to their needs while preserving the architectural harmony of the whole. Common spaces will complement the project, promoting a balance between private life and collective life. The cooperative members will be invited to engage in a truly common adventure and contribute to the creation of a sustainable, unique, and harmonious living space with the identity of the village. A partnership with the Commune provides for the construction of a parking lot nearby as well as connection to district heating, powered by an ecological energy source.
