Silenen is the largest municipality in the canton of Uri in terms of area and stretches from the Reusstal to the Maderanertal. Thanks to its location on the Gotthard North-South axis (A2), Lucerne, Zug, Zurich, and Lugano can be reached in 45 to 90 minutes. The cantonal capital Altdorf and Andermatt are also nearby.
