The Village of Lienz

Lienz is located at the foot of the Hoher Kasten (1,791m) and is an exclave of the St. Gallen municipality of Altstätten with currently around 480 inhabitants.

From the Oberbüchel district, which is located in the triangle of Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, a bridge leads over the Rhine to the Vorarlberg town of Bangs, which belongs to the municipality of Feldkirch/Austria.

Northeast of this border crossing, the Werdenberger Binnenkanal flows into the Rhine and forms the last interruption of the Rhine dam on the Swiss side to Lake Constance.

Lienz is located between the municipalities of Rüthi and Sennwald and has its own school community with a school house, which is attended by almost 50 children from kindergarten to 6th grade. The students of the upper level are taught at the upper level center in Oberriet.
