Minusio is a neighboring town of Locarno and is located between Lake Maggiore and Monte Cardada. It borders Muralto, Orselina, Brione, Contra, and Tenero, and is well connected to public transport towards Bellinzona and Lugano via the Minusio and Muralto train stations. In Rivapiana, on the lake shore, is the Catholic Church of San Quirico, first mentioned in 1313 and rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 18th century, with Romanesque fresco remains and a former watchtower. The church has a public park with a lake view. Nearby is the historic fortification Cà di Ferro, which was built in the 16th century as a recruitment barracks for Swiss mercenaries.
