Description
The room
Approx. 10 m², furnished and ready to move into: bed, standing desk, chair, bookshelf, bedside table, curtains. The window faces east, so you get the morning sun (and a free alarm clock in summer). It's the smaller of the two bedrooms, which is exactly why the rent is what it is for this part of town. A good fit if you're organized and travel light.
The flat
70 m² on a quiet street: two blocks from the Waffenplatzstrasse tram stop, 4 minutes from Enge station, a short walk to Lake Zurich, and a three blocks from Google's Zurich campus. Shared areas are a renovated kitchen, a 20 m² living room, and a bathroom with tub/shower plus a separate WC.
The building
Private storage cellar, indoor bike room, shared laundry with washer and dryer.
What's included
Everything: all Nebenkosten (electricity, gas, internet, Serafe) plus full use of the common areas, kitchenware and household items. One transfer a month, no surprise bills. The rent was calculated by square meters (private space + shared spaces), and utilities were divided by 2. Deposit: 2000 CHF.
Who you'd be living with
Just me: Jesus (31) from Colombia, doing a PhD in Computer Science. Outside the lab I dance salsa, cook, bike, play table tennis and read. At home we can speak English, Spanish, or German (mine is still a work in progress, so patient German speakers are especially welcome).
How the flat runs
Two people, 70 m², so it works best when we are both a bit considerate. In practice that means dishes get done after cooking and surfaces get wiped. Nothing military, just no growing pile in the sink or "I'll deal with it tomorrow". Once a week, usually on a weekend morning, we do a proper clean together and split the tasks around whoever's busier that week.
Beyond that, I would love a flatmate rather than a co-tenant. This means that a occasional shared dinner, a spontaneous kitchen conversation, or a salsa lesson (if you are ever curious) are always welcomed. No pressure to be best friends, and no obligation to socialise when you have had a long day. Two practical things: it's a smoke-free and drug-free home. And the room is single occupancy, it's genuinely too small for two.
Interested?
Send me a short message: who you are, what you do in Zurich, your intended dates, and one fun fact about yourself. P.S. If you have an LLM to write your reply, at least make sure it mentions the fun fact :)
