Description
We are renting an apartment in Löhningen. We are looking for an open and tolerant tenant who will complement the community, consisting of a café and two apartments. We will be happy to provide more information upon direct request.
The historic property was renovated in 2012.
Project description: The goal of the extension was to give both apartments the spatial diversity of a house: a ground-level entrance, two living floors, an attic, and private outdoor spaces. Both parties should also be able to benefit from the different advantages of old and new buildings. Therefore, both apartments consist of units in the old and new parts of the house, connected by a cross. The atmospheric and structural room qualities were worked out and made tangible: the baroque living rooms, spacious, neutral rooms in place of the former stable, and a winding courtyard garden. A shell made of wood lamellas encloses the new building, completing the row of houses. It is permeable in both the wall and roof areas, allowing for a large amount of light to enter. Despite this permeability, the new building is clearly readable from the street and refers to the original building through its volume and materiality. The substance of the existing building was preserved or professionally renovated wherever possible. The extension building differs from the historic building through a sparse formulation; it seeks its richness in the room geometry and lighting.
