Description

Disclaimer: Dont worry, well wait at least for a week to collect all the applications (also for the ones without Flatfox priority!)

Our big double room will be free in our flatshare from August 1st, 2026.

About us - who we are:
Excluding the flatmates that will leave soon, we are 3 guys and 3 girls. So with you and the other additional new flatmate, the full flat will be 8 flatmates, plus an additional half-year-old baby daughter of two flatmates. Our ages are in the 30s plus minus some years range.
We are a friendly and international group (German, Italian, Hungarian-Polish, Mexican), and we speak mainly English or German depending on who is around. We all work in different engineering and science fields: Water treatment, soil science, psychology, software, electronics and mechanics. Our hobbies are also varied: from sport, dancing, gardening, creativity, watching a film from time to time at our projector, and just chilling and having nice talks.

About us - how we live:
We live in a balance between personal life and collective life, so it is important that you like especially the collective part.

During a workshop we came up with the following vision: We are a collaborative, living community united by engagement, shared experiences, meaningful connections, and mutual care. We aim to make everyday life more fulfilling. We value diversity such as gender, culture, and language. We encourage creative and unconventional activities to bring playfulness and unexpected joy into daily life. Our home is cosy and well-maintained, yet embracing recycling and mindful consumption.

We share a big part of food and meals: some we buy together, and some we cook together. We also share the effort of the house tasks to keep our home nice, except the cleaning of the main common space which is done every two weeks by a cleaning person. We have regular flat meetings to take decisions of any type. And we also like to meet new people so from time to time you will find family members or friends for either a bit or a couple of days, which can stay at our guest room.

About you:
We are looking for one or two persons of any gender, identification or orientation, that can live with us for long-term meaning at least 1.5 years.

We will have preference for you, if you feel in alignment with how we live section, meaning you are fine to share effort in the house tasks, you are tidy, you are ok to participate in meetings with maturity, being able to communicate your needs and also to compromise your ideas sometimes without taking it personally. You are fine to sometimes cook for all (and sometimes receive delicious dishes from others), ideally you have sustainability values and you like to join fun activities or our neighbours with all flatmates from time to time... And we will be happy to learn more about you and your passions!

Room and Cluster:
This room of 37.3m2, labeled as number 1 in the flat map image, includes a small kitchen space and has a private bathroom (3.8m2). Check the flat map to visualize the spaces.

Common spaces:
Outside of your cluster, there is our large common space of 171 m2, which includes a large kitchen, spacious living room, large balcony, spacious pathways, a shared office space, and a spare room for guests with its own bathroom, which we use as the bathroom for our social events. Additionally, we have a small parcel in a shared garden which is outside next to our building, where we grow some veggies and plants.

About the cooperative:
Our apartment is part of the Hunzikerareal of the cooperative "Mehr als wohnen", which is a big non-profit collective project (Genossenschaft), consisting of many neighbours in 14 buildings, with a nice vision aiming for enhancing interaction between flatmates and neighbours, and promoting positive impact projects and a more sustainable lifestyle. There are many nice project groups (Quartiergruppen) lead by the residents, such as yoga, salsa, languages, and there are many nice facilities that we share, such as a nice social room with kitchen for events (Treffpunkt), gym, bike repairing workshop, wood cutting workshop, sauna, etc. And every year, we organize several events like summer day festival, winter party, small concerts, cooperative potlucks, boardgame nights, etc. As a resident, you can join any project or start your own and get support for it.

Costs:
The room costs in total 1648 CHF/month, which includes: electricity, Internet, TV-Radio (Serafe), a bi-weekly cleaning service for the common spaces, and also the Mobiliarfond which are 30 CHF/month that we all pay to have always some budget for new house items, tools, maintenance, repairs, some house renovations or new furniture.
When joining, you will have to make two unique initial deposits, both which you will get back whenever you move out. First, the rent deposit of 1643 CHF, which is for the flat. And second, larger deposit requested by the Genossenschaft Mehr als Wohnen to anyone living in this cooperative, of ~11572 CHF (Anteilskapital). This last deposit is invested, so it generates an interest that you will also get back at the moment when you move out. If you can not cover this full amount at the beginning, let us know to help you find solutions to cover it.

Next steps:
If this sounds like you could enjoy living with us, please write us as many relevant details about you as possible. We will then invite you for a visit with 1 of us as host. If after this visit, you liked the place, and we also liked you, we will invite you for dinner between Sunday, June 21st and Friday, June 26th to get to know each. After this we will tell you when we can give you an answer, also considering your timings. Looking forward to your application message!

In high-demand areas, property listers find themselves pre-selecting prospects to manage the number of viewings. Timing – first come, first served – is key, but other criteria can also influence selection. A high income doesn’t always mean an advantage – be honest about it.
