Theft of user data – Beware of «phishing e-mails»
Be careful when you are asked for your user name and password in an e-mail. It is highly likely to be a «phishing e-mail». Do not reply to it.
How to recognise the current scam e-mails?
In the current «phishing» e-mail that looks like a contact form (see image right) you are requested to click on a link and to modify your access data (user name and password). The link given in the e-mail appears to lead to a property ad.
This is how the false contact form appears.
However, the link does not take you to www.immoscout24.ch, but to a bogus website (see image right). Caution: this bogus website looks deceptively genuine. Therefore, enter user name and password only if you are really sure that you are on the website of ImmoScout24.
The website will have an address (URL) in the browser that does
NOT
begin with http://www.immoscout24.ch/.
How to recognise phishing e-mails?
You receive an e-mail (it may even look like a contact form) and are requested to click on a link (e.g. reading «click this inquiry»).
The stated link does take you to a bogus website with a false internet address. This bogus website looks deceptively genuine, but the address in the browser doesn't start with http://www.immoscout24.ch or https://www.immoscout24.ch.
In the e-mail you are asked for your access data (user name and password). ImmoScout24 will NEVER ask you to do that.
Often you are warned that your account will be deleted if you do not respond to the e-mail within a given period of time.
There are often (spelling) errors in the text.
You can, however, recognise a bogus website thanks to the incorrect address (URL) in your browser. The address in the browser is not https://www.immoscout24.ch, but starts with www.jonesboro.com or www.hamanah.com. This picture shows an example of a bogus website.
Consequently, before every login at
www.immoscout24.ch
, please check that you really are on our website. The address (URL) in your browser must start with
https://www.immoscout24.ch
.
What can I do against phishing e-mails?
Never reply to e-mails in which you are asked for user data, even if they appear to be from ImmoScout24.ch (this is never the case).
Always check the URL address: Does it really read https://www.immoscout24.ch in the browser?
Please inform ImmoScout24 Customer Service (via
helpdesk@immoscout24.ch
) as quickly as possible if you receive a phishing e-mail.
Better inform us one time too often than beeing sorry. You can reach our Support line 7 days a week.
You can prevent such scam emails by providing email addresses only in the appropriate fields when creating an ad. NEVER enter email addresses in the free text field.
For your protection, we also recommend that you never send copies of personal documents such as your passport or ID. Fraudsters can use these to their advantage.
Why do I receive fishing e-mails?
Fraudsters want to get hold of your access data to be abele to change your ads, e.g. contact details, gross rent or purchase price.
Fraudsters respond to inquiries from interested parties and ask for a deposit before they can visit the apartment. Never agree to such a deal or you will never see your money again.
The term
phishing
– as scam emails are also known – comes from the way fraudsters fish for passwords.
